Many people are concerned, rightly, about the rise of AI use. I am dedicated to doing my own work, particularly given how central our humanity is to ethical communication and the production of rigorous journalism. As of 2026, I hold a certificate from media regulator Impress and the University of Huddersfield in Ethical Journalism and Media, which includes a module on ethical AI use. As the field continues to change, I will continue to learn.

I rarely use AI as a tool to create anything from scratch, but I occasionally use GenAI to scan, structure and synthesise large quantities of information. When I do use it creatively, it tends to be for visualisation e.g. creating a map or graph from research data, or structuring notes into a content skeleton to work from.}
